Oak Ridge is a community located along the Pequannock River.
Until the 1940s, ice was one of Oak Ridge’s major commercial sectors. Before the widespread use of electric refrigeration, there was a significant market for ice harvested from this region’s many lakes and ponds. A coal magnate named Edward R. Greenwood purchased a pond in the early 1900s, where he built a large icehouse to serve his recently formed Silk City Ice Company. Today, you can still see the dam he built in Greenwood Pond as part of this icehouse.
“I love dealing with Fredericks Fuel. I’ve been with them for 30 years. I just had a new furnace put in yesterday, and what a great job they did. The men were very professional and so was their work. Cleaned up beautifully. I could not be any happier. I would recommend them highly. Great, great job.” —Phyllis B.
“Extremely happy with their service. They are always polite and helpful, and they provide excellent service.” —B. Daino
Q: What can I do to keep my A/C operating efficiently?
A: In addition to changing air filters and keeping the outdoor condenser clear of plant life and debris, you can keep your A/C operating well (and your energy costs down) by arranging an annual tune-up with an HVAC professional. This keeps your system running efficiently and prevents breakdowns.
Q: Why is there warm air coming from my A/C system?
A: Often, warm air from your A/C is an issue you can fix on your own. First, check that your system’s air filter is not dirty or clogged, and clean or replace it if needed. Also, ensure your thermostat is set to “auto” instead of “fan.” If the issue persists, call us to check your system.
Q: When should I replace my A/C instead of repairing it?
A: If your older A/C equipment is breaking down more often, you should consider replacing it if it uses outdated R22 refrigerant or has an efficiency rating well below the federal minimum of 14-SEER. Also, if the cost of repairing it is more than 50 percent of the price of a new system, replace it.
